Creamy Mushroom Sauce Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons butter- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
- 1 tablespoon butter (for frying sliced mushrooms)
- Sliced mushrooms (desired amount)
Method:
- In a small saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Once the butter has melted, add the flour to the saucepan. Stir continuously with a whisk or wooden spoon to form a roux. Cook the roux for about 1-2 minutes, until it turns a light golden color. This will help cook out the raw taste of the flour.
- Gradually pour in the milk, a little at a time, while whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue whisking until the sauce becomes smooth and thickens to your desired consistency.
- Add the black pepper, salt, and mixed herbs to the sauce. Stir well to incorporate the flavors. Taste and adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
- In a separate frying pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and sauté them until they turn golden brown and release their moisture. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally for even cooking.
- Once the mushrooms are cooked, transfer them to the prepared mushroom sauce. Gently stir to combine the mushrooms with the sauce.
- Allow the mushroom sauce to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
